Throughout different sessions, ELEMENTS will offer courses in the following areas: 1. Handbuilding & Extruding (Beginner): Handbuilding techniques such as coil, slab, pinch and extruding will be covered. A very good first clay experience. 2. Handbuilding/Modeling (Intermediate): Requires at least one class term of experience. Learn to construct larger, intricate handbuilt pieces. Experience and use multiple, combined techniques. 3. Wheel-Thrown Pottery (Beginner): Requires no experience in throwing. Learn to center, pull a cylinder and make basic shapes on the potter's wheel. 4. Wheel-Thrown Pottery (Intermediate): Requires at least one class term of experience in throwing (some handbuilding experience recommended). Learn to make and attach handles and spouts, and craft lids for your thrown pieces. 5. Wheel-Thrown Pottery (Beginner/Intermediate): Suitable for beginners and a good development course for those with some throwing experience. 6. Figurative Sculpture: No experience necessary. Craft a detailed human bust. Learn how to measure and properly construct a sculpture that will fire properly. 7. Modeling: Some handbuilding experience needed. Learn the ins and outs of modeling various items in an artistic fashion. 8. Raku: Construct pieces to be fired in the exciting and dramatic raku process. 9. Wheel-Thrown (Advanced) Master lids, handles, attachments and altering forms.
The fee for each regular 8 week class is $175.00. Specialty class fees are listed below. This tuition covers 25 lbs. of KPS clay (instructors preference), glazes and glaze firing for work produced from that bag of clay. Each instructor will advise students of any tools needed for the class; these tools may be purchased at a 10% discounted rate from Kickwheel Pottery Supply. Additional class clay may also be purchased from Kickwheel Pottery Supply.
All ELEMENTS courses run for eight consecutive weeks unless otherwise noted. Each class meets once per week, the dates of each class are listed below in the class schedule. All ELEMENTS regular classes currently offered are for adults ages 13 and over (younger admitted with parental enrollment). We also have a special summer Kids N' Clay course listed below for ages 7-12, not requiring adult enrollment.
ELEMENTS classes are limited to ten (10) students per session. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each adult class is 2 -1/2 or 3 hours in length and children's classes are 2 hours. This time includes set-up/break-down time. Rain checks are not guaranteed for missed classes, makeups will only be granted if applicable space is available in another of your instructors' class periods.

OPEN STUDIO TIME SCHEDULE Whether you are a Student, Studio Renter or Monthly Open Studio Member, you will find a time that is convenient for you to come in and practice or work on your next masterpiece! ELEMEMTS provides a friendly, fun and informative attmosphere to learn and work in all clay avenues. Expert help is available whenever you feel the need for rescue or advise. Open Studio Members pay just 99.00 per month for 30 days of access. We also offer a discount for Annual Membership of only 89.00 per month. This is a savings of $120.00, registration must be paid in advance. Both monthly and annual membership prices include your own shelf.

Wheel-Thrown Pottery A Look at Nature: Wheel-Thrown Pottery Shape and Form: Developmental course for those with some prior throwing experience. Handbuilding TOTEMS: New Time Format. Build a custom-designed totem for your house or garden! Using handbuilding and modeling techniques, learn to design a variety of unique sculptures and spacers. The fish, animals, faces and more that are created will be used to build a one-of-a-kind totem. All experience levels welcome, including beginners. Students will be responsible for obtaining their own post (instructor will provide guidance for installation). $129.00/six-week course (BONUS! Independent Study RAKU: A unique course that focuses instruction on the raku firing process. Students will develop and create their own projects at their own pace; raku firings will take place each week as needed during the scheduled class time (beginning the second week of class, running through the first week of open studio). Parent/Kid's Courses:
Animal Sculptures. Create one-of-a-kind whimsical animal sculptures! Kids will design and make slab, pinch and coil turtles, horses, monkeys and other animals using stamps, underglazes and other tools to make them unique. Workshop fee covers instruction, project clay and firing. Ages 8 and up (kids younger than 8 may register with an adult chaperone). $25 per child / $20 for ELEMENTS members.

Clay Workshop:
The Zen of Pottery: For potters of all levels. Master the fundamentals of throwing pots on the wheel. This intensive workshop focuses on skillbuilding techniques for wedging, centering and pulling. Each piece thrown will be studied from the inside out, allowing students to see and understand how to throw with greater precision and consistency. Project clay is included. (no firing is included in price). $35 per person/ $30 per person for ELEMENTS students.
Glass & Mixed Media Workshop
Dichroic Glass Jewelry:: No jewelry or glass experience needed. Students will learn how to cut, design and prepare jewelry pendants using small pieces of fusible and dichroic glass. Glass compatibility, fusing temperatures and processes will be discussed. Led by mixed media artist Pattie Appleby, participants will create several of their own pendants or small window hangings while learning the basics of glasswork. Students who also register for the PMC workshop are encouraged to bring their glass pendants to incorporate into the PMC workshop. $35.00 materials fee (includes firing). $95.00** for non-members/$85.00** for ELEMENTS members.
Open to everyone, ELEMENTS' end-of-session raku party is a great introduction into this exciting firing process. Create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces or simply witness and learn about this dramatic style of firing. The party is free to attend, firing is only $5 per piece (this price includes glazing, lidded pots count as two pieces). Dozens of glazes are available. Pieces to be fired must be created out of a KPS clay body (preferably raku) and bisque-fired prior to the party. Pot-luck party participants are encouraged to bring a snack or drinks to share. Play In The Clay: (no experience necessary): Try your hand at pottery without the commitment of a regular class. Experience throwing on the wheel or learn basic handbuilding techniques. Bring a friend, a date, or come on your ownjust be ready to get muddy! Qualified studio assistance is provided. Try it for one night or join us on a weekly basis (no storage space is provided between weeks). 1/2 bag of clay is available for purchase for $12.00 (includes glazing and firing). Additional clay may be purchased at the class rate ($17-23 per 25-lb. bag, including glazing and firing). $15.00/evening. Advance registration is required for each individual evening. No storage is provided between weeks for projects. Anyone under 13 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Open Studio Time (all levels): Purchase open studio time by the hour or as a Monthly Membership at ELEMENTS and have access to all studio equipment: electric wheels, slabroller, clay gun, 4" extruder with complete die set, giffin grip, slump molds, etc. Although open studio time is independent study, expert troubleshooting assistance is provided. Open studio hours are offered Monday - Saturday during normal business hours when a class is not in session. Some evening hours are also available. A schedule of hours is provided the week before each class session begins. Studio members may also purchase KPS clay bodies at the student price; this includes bisque firing and Cone 6 glaze firing.
