KPS has been in business since 1974 with the same owners. We are essentially a family business and know what it is to make a living by doing pottery. Even if it is just a hobby, it is important not to have your clay and equipment "fight" with you. We have formulated our moist clay bodies through years of experience and customer feed back. Clay should be fun and work with you to be what you finally envision for your creations.

We never substitute ingredients, looking for a cheaper way to make clay. We buy premium ingredients because we know that you will have fewer problems. We take pride in our clay bodies and hope they enhance your creativity. We perform extensive tests, including firing through glaze completion of real pots, to ensure that we are making a consistent and qualilty product before you get it.

#275 GROLLEG PORCELAIN. Cone 10. One of the best porcelains made. Pure white and pure joy. A very "forgiving" porcelain to work with and easy to love. A true English porcelain that is translucent when thin. No ball clay, lots of grolleg. Oxidation, reduction, wood or salt. Bisque 04.

#299 PORCELAIN. Cone 10. High-temp hybrid, majority grolleg, small part stoneware. Closer to the working performance of a stoneware, but the full beauty and translucency of a true "English" porcelain. No ball clay. Porcelain grog. Warp resistant. Oxidation, reduction, wood or salt. Bisque 04.

#300 DOMESTIC PORCELAIN. Cone 6-10. A very forgiving, economical , true porcelain that will suit any purpose. This clay throws small to large, wide or tall and contains no ball clay.

#350 SWAN PORCELAIN. Cone 6. Should we call it porceware, stonelain or grolleware? This is a snow white, majority porcelain, part stoneware hybrid. It is friendly like stoneware and beautiful like porcelain. Swan porcelain is capable of very large work with very little effort. Extra nice feature: Swan will take ordinary stoneware glazes and wear them like they were made for each other. Translucent when thin. No ball clay. Porcelain grog. Warp resistant. Oxidation, reduction, wood or salt. Bisque 04.

#427 CRYSTAL PORCELAIN. Cone 6-10. A beautiful, crisp white domestic porcelain with porcelain grog. Warp resistant. Oxidation, reduction. Bisque cone 04.

Purge Clay: Purge clay is offered as generic clay suitable for practice or for those not fussy about fired color. Only available locally, not for shipment because these clays are not boxed. Subject to availability, first come, first served. We do not test these clays. Suitable for lowfire use only. NOTE: Purge clays do not carry the ASTM D-4236 certification.

Custom Clay: We will mix your custom clay body to your exact formula using the best materials available. We never substitute an ingredient without your permission, nor do we use cheaper grades of materials. KPS will add sand or grog to any of our existing clays for a small charge. Custom clays must be paid for at time of manufacture. Pick-up must be made within one week. Minimum order of 2000 pounds, please. NOTE: Custom clays will not carry the ASTM D-4236 certification unless you have paid for LHAMA certification. We can arrange this for you, if needed.
